Im a player not an official and i was trying to clarify the rule for the oakley visors are they truely illegal or are they approvable with a dr. note or is it really just the official can someone please clarify this rule or post the rule thank you.

A visor must be 100% clear. A doctor's note does not supersede the rule.

I have seen these Oakley visors that have been clear in the afternoon and as the evening sets in seem to get a little tint to them (similar to transition lenses but not as drastic)

This was on the JV level, end of a game, I told the coach that if they were becoming anything other then transparent that they were illegal so he could be aware and advise his players accordingly. In this instance I didn't make a big deal of it but I would like to see manufacturers design products accordingly.

First game of the season - we had a 7PM start. During the pregame I take a pretty good look around for equipment problems and I meet with the captains long before the coin toss. Other than a few "Livestrong" bracelets we had no problems.

About midway through the 2nd period (pretty dark at this point) and I notice that one of the captains is wearing a visor that has definately gotten darker as the game progressed. (Either that, or he lied to me and did change it!)

Sounds like USC on the coach to me.

If you play in Texas, the visor must be clear and untinted (i.e. like safety glasses you would buy at Sears or Home Depot). Texas UIL will consider a doctor's note to allow a tint, but currently only 6-9 or so players in the state have received such approval.

Canadian Ruling

Tinted visors shall only be worn if the player has recieved a note from a doctor.

Without the note, only clear, untinted visors may be worn.

Me too. Unfortunately, my R didn't share my view and decided to let the kid play. He reasoned that the coach had enough problems at the time because the game was well out of hand.
