Has anyone ever seen a drop kick? Why is it still in the rule book? I've only seen one in my life and it was on accident. It was a preseason game for the old Browns (before they moved) and the punter almost missed the ball and the tip touched the ground before he kicked it. I believe the ball actually sailed out of the endzone and I I think should have been counted as a missed field goal and not a simple touchback. The officials missed it and the game went on. Later someone on ESPN noticed it and said "well it's preseason for the refs too."
Anyhow...just curious if anyone else has seen a drop kick at any level of play. |
Never seen it, doubt I ever will.
I'm still waiting to see a freekick after faircatch. I had a coach this season tell me if they faircatch they're going to freekick but they ended up returning it. DARN. |
I seen a drop kick just last week. The kick was blocked.

I too have seen drop kicks used for extra points. Looks very strange, we were fortunate to see the drop kicker warming up before the game. His were not blocked and scored.
How he managed to do it was kind of amazing to me! |
The drop kick is alive and well in 6 man football.
