Umps,
How about recording info at change of quarter? Polling all crews to see who records Down and Distance before resetting the ball? J |
On our crew it is the responsibility of the Referee and Umpire and Linesman and Line Judge and Back Judge to record that information.
|
Referee and Umpire and Linesman and Line Judge. I like the BJ to get the yardline and go there to be traffic cop if necessary. If 4 of us can't get it right, then we better pack it in.
|
R,U,L,H.
The backjudge goes down to the other end once he knows which line the clip is on. Personally when I'm BJ I look at the D&D and keep it in my head. |
REPLY: NHFS Officials Manual says that R, U, and H record down, distance, and position of ball. Calls for B and L to observe the teams as they move to other end. On our crew, since so many teams go to their sidelines, ALL five officials record down, distance, yard line, position relative to the hashes, and team in possession. Then B and L go to their respective sidelines to escort teams back for beginning of the next period.
|
For our crew, the R, U, and H write down the down, distance, ball postion, going in/out, and the yardline the clip is on. The BJ and LJ are with the teams until 15 seconds before the RFP.
