Where would you place the ball after the ball was kicked out of bounds, and the penalty was accepted on a kickoff? Would you place at the nearest hash where it went out of bounds?

Since the free kick down is being replayed, they can spot it anywhere between the hash marks. If the ball is taken where it went out of bounds or if it is placed at the 35, the ball goes on the hash mark to the side where it went out.

For NCAA, it's 5 yards from the previous spot. If that spot was on the right hash then that's where the next kickoff will be from.

Rule 6-1-8...A free kick shall not be kicked out of bounds between the goal lines untouched inbounds by R. If it is, R has the following choices.

a. Accept a 5-yard penalty from the previous spot and have K rekick.

b. Put the ball in play at the inbounds spot 25 yards beyond the previous spot.

c. Decline the penalty and put the ball in play at the inbounds spot.

So to answer your question, the ball will be placed at the inbounds spot if R chooses (b) or (c). If they choose (a), K can free kick from anywhere between the inbounds spots after the 5-yard penalty.
