This play caused teams to rethink the situation and take a knee with several guys in position to tackle any would-be recovery of a fumble. The offensive coordinator for the play was Bob Gibson, my former landlord and former coach at Bowling Green. I couldn't blame him, as that was what all teams did at the time. I think he lost his job over the play.

We in the Philly area every once in a while get these crazy breaks from stupid coaching. Like Barry Switzer on a cold, blustery December afternoon going for it on 4th and 2 (TWICE) in Dallas' own territory with 2 minutes to play.
