Yesterday I had 2 forward passes on the same down:

A-7 throws a pass that is blocked by a d-lineman and it comes back the the QB who catches it and rolls out and then throws a pass. The pass was complete.

I threw the flag at the spot of the 2nd pass and we had illegal pass/loss of down from that spot.

This was almost the same play the the Fed used in their powerpoint this year to illustrate the new rule, except they had the tipped pass caught by another player who then threw a 2nd pass.

It feels good to be able to handle a situation without any question because of good preparation. We had just talked about this play in our pre-game and also in our assocation meeting this year. No substitute for preparation!

Sounds just like the slide in the yearly meeting. Sounds cool that you had it, pretty rare I would think.

I do workshops for the state, so I had the slide presentation and had gone over it with some guys in makeup workshops. I think it is rare that the real-life situation comes so soon after the rules clinic/rules change.

Actually, I had to think for a second as to the right signal to use. I always associated an illegal pass with being beyond the LOS, and now I have to associate the illegal pass signal with a situation where the pass can be made behind the LOS and still be illegal.
