Team A has scored a touchdown and no time remaining on the clock at the end of the first quarter. They go for a 2 point conversion. They pass into the endzone where the defense is called for pass interference but A cathces the pass and the try is good. Now can A accept the penalty, the try is good and have it enforced at the succeeding spot/ free kick (kick off).

The question at the time of the score A has a strong wind at their back, does the enforcement become part of the first quarter (untimed down) or has the quarter ended and it is the first play of the second quarter.

Guess this could also occur on a roughing the kicker/holder call on a successful try or field goal as well for another example.

In other words do we kick off the other way (into the wind) or untimed kick with the wind??

you complete the quarter on the end that you started it. Untimed down where you are at. Stat the new quarter as any other, with kick off and players going opposite direction.

You do not extend the 1st quarter (in this example) with another untimed down.

The only untimed down was the TRY down which is a unique down in its own right. Carry over fouls if any, are on the succeeding free kick which starts the second quarter. Switch directions for this F/K and start the clock using normal F/K rules.

I disagree. Switch ends, then enforce the foul. A foul on a try does not extend the period any further (unless the try is replayed had the pass been dropped). The key here to extend a period is a foul during the last TIMED down. Since the try is an untimed down you switch ends, then enforce on the free kick.

You only extend the period if a foul occurs on the last TIMED down of the period. Since a try is an untimed down, the penalty is enforced to start the second quarter.

REPLY: Agree that you switch ends, then enforce the penalty. However, just remember that if you do extend any period and a foul occurs during that down, you continue to extend even though the down in which the foul occurred was technically untimed.
