What does your crew wear in terms of time pieces? A stopwatch? Who wears it?

Any good advice for how to use it when the field clock goes out?

I wear a timex ironman triatalon at all times. I rarely use it on the football field, but I have had to keep time with it in the past. Great watch and I've been wearing this model for at least 10 years now.

Everyone on your crew should have a watch. I like Timex watches, you can get a nice one with a countdown feature for ~$40, just make sure that its a "hold to reset" and doesn't just reset with one click otherwise you'll accidentally reset it. The one click reset is good for BJ to time 25 second clock though.

If the field clock goes out the best thing you can do is have the R or the LJ keep the time, remember the 4-minute warning.

I use a Timex Ironman also. Also for play clock a Ready Ref is awesome.

When did you start wearing an Ironman watch? 10 years ago shouldn't you have been wearing a Batman watch? :D

I bought that NFL watch from Honigs last year. It is really nice. It has a different style of band on it than a Timex, way more comfortable. I also like it because the display is easier to read than the cheap watches.

I like the Casio G-Shock. It has a count down timer and I use the stop watch for time outs. The buttons are counter sunk to avoid hitting them accidently.

The same way you do it before it goes out! Someone, your mechanics dictate who, should always be backing-up the clock. Make it a habit, it's not very difficult. And when it does go out, you just continue doing what you've been doing all along.

I believe it is the LJ in 5 man mechanics.

I have the same watch as you grantsrc! I like it very comfortable compaired to the cheap watches!

I also run it during every game in case the clock goes out, which it did several times and all we did was stop and tell the coaches we already have the time on the field. Made us look very professional.

I also got the NFL watch through Honigs. Was working great before the season, 1st scrimmage game I got hit a couple of times (switched to Umpire) didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, I was walking back when I looked at my wrist, only to find a nice band withoutany time piece attached. Looked around for about 30 minutes never found it. I got one off EBAY for $15 more basic, but I think more sturdy (Champion Sports).

you are suppose to be officiating not playing...LOL. Sorry to hear about your watch...a little expensive. I use it to time the game so I am always looking at it.
