My general perception is that it is always better to warm up and stretch before you get to the game site and that you shouldn't be running and stretching on the field. I'm interested to hear what others think. How do you handle the warm up and stretching, especially before your varsity games?

Southern Ontario, Canada

Games that I know of in Ontario, the kids may stretch early, but they do stretch and run at the field, etc... after their unis are on.

Ah Jug, I believe he's refering to officials.

I'll go have another one.

Ooops.

I stretch with my uni on and at the field - about 30 minutes before kick off. Some times I re-stretch 3-4 minutes before game time, but only for abouta minute max.

There is nothing wrong with coaches, players, or fans seeing you warm up on the field. Maybe you can stretch before going to the field, but you cannot run in the dressing room, and I like to get a sweat up before starting the game.

I do some stretching in the room where
we dress for varsity games and also do
a bit more on the field before the game--
I don't think anyone is really watching us
all that much in the early pre-game time !

Stretch and what not in the lockerroom, jog to your positions to warm up. No need to be running suicides out there! ;)
