I would like to look at as many sports as possible in order to expose my students to a wide variety of opportunities. The high schools in the Millard Public Schools (suburban Omaha, NE) started offering a sports officiating class recently.
Google "Millard Public Schools, Omaha, Nebraska" to get the website. Probably the best contact name is Frank Ryan at Millard West H.S. I believe that NASO/Referee magazine helped him out with a bunch of training materials.

What will you be covering in your class? Are you going only for points that are common to all officiating, or will you be hitting specific sports as well? Will you expect the students to know the rules of every sport that you cover?

I am going to try to hit multiple sports so that I can open up the door to as many opportunities as possible. In terms of rules, we will have to have a basic understanding before we can even begin to learn principles of officiating as they apply specifically to each sport.

sleebo, check out my site. I got it up a week or so ago and it is a great resource for info regarding football officiating. Also, what state are you offering this class in? Just curious.

I teach at a somewhat rural HS in Lawrenceburg, KY (about 25 minutes from Lexington)

Kentref had a good suggestion about checking into Millard Public School's classes. It was a headliner in the news last year at one point that many people were impressed with what they are trying to do.

To add to that suggestion, check into any community colleges that offer such courses also. Maybe get some ideas of topics to touch on from those. I know we have 2 courses here at Iowa Western Community College associated with sports officiating. Go to http://www.iwcc.edu and run a search on our website and you'll find the information.
