Well...only two more games left for me -- a state semi-final tonight and then a traditional Thanksgiving morning contest. Are Thanksgiving games a standard for you guys too?

Illinois plays its final games on the Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving (Nov 26-27 this year).
I am probably going to go take in a game or two this year.

Used to be until the state play-offs started.
In Hawaii some of the high schools used to play on Thanksgiving or over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. They don't do this anymore for two reasons: the high school soccer and basketball seasons start around the same time.
So now the only high school football going on for the next 3 weekends are the Division I and II play-offs and championship game on December 3rd. Pop Warner still plays season-ending bowl games the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. I have fond memories of visiting my cousin who was an assistant coach at Barnstable High School on the Cape in Mass. about 20 years back. Those aluminum bleacher seats can get mighty cold on the ole back-side thats for sure! But a season ending Thanksgiving day game is a nice tradition and I wish that the high schools here would still have them but with the new play-off system I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Plus the weather has to be getting pretty brutal by that time of year, Mike. It dips into the 70's at night, right? |
