"We do work off gate receipts and it is not uncommon during the playoffs to average $500 a game, and some, including myself, have received $800 for a single game. Some officials worked a playoff game in the Astrodome two years ago and all five officials received $1,200. The average pay for a regular Friday night game in my area is $100-$120. Most of us dont do it for the money, but it is nice."
