In Fed rules is there any rule against a linebacker pushing a lineman. Saw this in a game over the weekend and it was a high school game in ILL and people in the stands were yelling for a flag and the Ref's were saying it was legal. Basically the middle linebacker would push the def. tackle ahead at the snap of the ball...thanks jb

ILLEGAL

Rule 9-2-3...A defensive player shall not:
b. Use his hands to add momentum to the charge of a teammate who is on the line of scrimmage.

Either that or the Ref doesn't know his rules, but Patton cited NFHS rule.

Legal. The only thing illegal is pushing the ball carrier to aid in gaining yards.
