OK the head of our state threw this play out last week and some of you may have heard about it. It happened out East or southeast i believe he said.
Running back A22 is going around the left end and while fighting for extra yards and almost down he fumbles the ball. While the ball is bouncing around the young ball boy tries to help the refs out by tossing in the extra ball. Obviously the ref not expecting the ball does not catch it or see it for that matter. As the story goes the next thing the refs see is one football going one way and the other in the opposite direction. 2 touchdowns one by each team. Holy cow what a predictament they were in. The officials came together and after a short discussion felt the fairest way to handle it will be A's ball at the spot of the fumble/end of the run. Just when you think you have seen it all. Maybe someone here can add more to the story if it is from there area's association.

Could we also apply the inadvertent whistle rule?
Give A the result of the play when the second ball was tossed on the field or allow A the option of replaying the down from the previous spot. Edit note: A's ball at spot where possesion was lost, which is the end of the run. Hopefully there will be a bean bag at this spot. Boy, if B was just about to recover the loose ball now that would be a fiasco for sure. By the way, it takes leather balls to play (and officiate) football!... Composite just doesn't do it for me...
