NFHS Rules

K punts, R muffs the catch attempt and K recovers. The clock was running at the snap. Does the clock start with ready since it was K(A)and not R(B)that was awarded a new series?? Also is there a reference or casebook play on this??

Thanks for your help!

No, the clock starts on the snap. It's the start of a new series following a legal scrimmage kick. 3.4.3c

3-4-3c

take a look at rule 3-4-3c. "The clock shall start on the snap when a new series is awarded to either team."

Thanks that was the only thing I found. This guy thinks that you go on the ready because the same team has the ball, and said there was a casebook play on it. I could not find anything and I went through the 4 years of casebooks.
Thanks for the help

I originally thought it was the RFP as well b/c of the award of the new series to A. However, 3-4-3c is pretty clear about "either" team.

Heck - I learned something today. Time to go home...and it's 5 o'clock somewhere...:D

I believe your friend is mixing up the rules regarding kicks with those regarding non-kicks. If this was not a kick, but simply 2 turnovers, it would start on the ready.
