Pretend for a minute that this might actually happen in a game...

Team A kicks a field goal, during which the ball gets stuck on TOP of the right upright. It just sits there like a golfball on a tee.

1. 3 points or not?

2. How are you getting the ball down?

No good.

8-4-1c. The ball needs to pass between the uprights, or the inside edge thereof. Unless this happened by some freakish gust of wind, the ball could not pass between the uprights before coming to rest on top of one of them.

1. I'd give them 100 points for doing this.

2. Game over. I'm going home.

Here is one that I use to piss off other officials. We have all been trained with this situation. A FG attempt is kicked into a strong wind passes thru the uprights and over the cross bar, completely passing the goal posts. The wind then blows the ball back thru the goal posts into the endzone. Result: FG good 3 points for K. My piss off point is different: The kick goes wide of the uprights, then the wind blowing at an angle, blows the ball back thru the uprights over the cross bar. Result: FG good because the rule book doesn't say the ball has to be going thru the goal posts in any paticular direction (i.e. from the field of play towards the out of bounds). Of course no one would ever call this good, but if the trainers keep giving us the FG thru "frontwards then blown back thru," I'll keep giving them my even more unusual FG!

I JUST LOVE THE RULE BOOK!

What if B13 jumps and hits the crossbar?

Goal interference, 3 points for A, B's ball behind the endline?

Let's say the ball is a line drive and bounces off the SJ's noggin and up in the air, then a strong wind blows and goes through the uprights?? 3 points for K, and a blooody nose for the Sj.

Nobody has answered the question of how to get the ball down, but I'll take a stab at this one.

Just let the fans pull down the goal posts. Then we have the ball again, and no more stupid field goal possibilities.
