I have eight (8) patches I don't need as I am living in Indiana now. If anyone is interested let me know. I think the IHSA sells them for $1.00 each. I will mail them to you for 50 cents each plus shipping.

Email me at [email protected] if you are interested.

I'm in WI but also work football and basketball in IL. In WI we wear NO patches, which is the best uniform of all.

But I have (2) football shirts and (1) basketball shirt with patches on. Of course the IHSA keeps sending me patches, so now I have SEVEN patches in my drawer. I think I'll pass.

What's the point of the patch anyway?

JRutledge Fri Aug 13, 2004 12:53pm

I have about 15 myself. I have recieved 2 for the past two years in all my sports. I had a couple left over from when I first ordered the new patches. I would have to pass as well.

Peace

Indiana?

Bill -

I was looking forward to our crew working to gether this year. Bob Brown told me you left and our umpire left. Looks like Jerry and I are the only ones remaining. Good luck in Indiana.

Rut,
Michigan changes colors each year. I think, each year, they pick another state unversity for the color combination.

Not a joke. I think the last three were Western MU, Northwood Institute, Central MU.
They used to be different shapes, too. The needle work doesn't always match up to the previous year's patch.
Lass few years were the same size and shape.

Man that sounds rough. So you have to put a new patch on every year? That sounds really stupid, I'd be complaining. With all those shirts and 3 seasons, that'd suck.

mick Sun Aug 15, 2004 07:27pm

It's a trade off, ya see...

Snake~eyes,
Shucks it doesn't suck!
In order to ref in our state, we only take one test and sew patches on yearly.
Y'all hafta sew on one patch and take a test yearly.
See! Now, who do you think has it rough?
We've got it made!

1 patch * 2-3 shirts * 3 seasons

I'd rather take the tests, because after I get my 90 somthing on the test I'm pretty much guarenteed to do well on the next tests.

mick, do you do football? Haven't seen you post much in the football forum.

Snake,

I believe mick works girl's basketball in the fall (Michigan does this). I am sure working both football and basketball at the same time can be a bit much.

That was a big factor, Rut.

Mick,

To which school do we owe these ugly red patches? I thought other ones were bad but these are the worst.

As for changing patches many of us use velco. Sew a black piece on your shirt and glue the other half to the back of the patch.

Matt-MI,
Dunno!
Scarlet/Silver reminds me of Ohio State. :)

Ahhh! Mick, I didn't realize you were a state with girls in one and boys in another season.

While we're on the subject of patches, is the "other" sleeve the only place you can put an American flag patch? I can't find an official ruling on that anywhere. I know NFL guys have them over their pockets, but IHSA guys I met this weekend had them on their sleeves.

Matt-MI Tue Aug 17, 2004 03:36pm

OverandBack,

Our patches go on the front pocket. The American flag may be worn on the left sleeve and our association patch(if you have one)may be worn on the right sleeve.

Mick,

If you say those words again I'll have to track you down and wash your mouth out with soap!

OverAndBack Tue Aug 17, 2004 04:07pm

Our state patches go on the left sleeve. I haven't seen any association patches, but I haven't looked.

So the flag can go on the right sleeve, and I've seen it there, I'm just not sure that's the only place it can go. I like the front, above the pocket. But I'll do whatever I'm supposed to do.

Matt-MI,
Well, maybe that's why you were stricken by "these ugly red patches".
Take care. :)

That's what I do, I only have 1 of each patch, and I got someone to do a great job of sewing white vecro over the white stripes on the pocket. If you work without a patch, you can't tell there's velcro there, and it keeps patch costs down.

ref18,
I tried it.
Didn't like it.
I knew the fuzzy stuff was there.
It did bother me.

When I work with a shirt that doesn't need a patch, ... the shirt doesn't have a patch. Use a game check and get a "no patch shirt". ;)

ref18 Tue Aug 17, 2004 11:06pm

we rarely do a game where a patch isn't worn.

We have our local association patch, and then any league that isn't assigned by the local association has their own patch. Therefore I don't need a patchless shirt.

ref5678 Tue Aug 17, 2004 11:42pm

with the american flag patch if it is worn it is to be worn on the right sleeve not to exceed 2x3 inches. In IL that is
