Did anyone notice the Umpire in the Sugar Bowl on fumbles? He dove into the pile like he was going to try and come out with the ball himself. On the first one, you actually could not see him within the pile. I wish I had it in me to be that agressive. That would be fun!

REPLY: I noticed him on the fumble that ended LSU's first series down near OU's goal line. I almost expected him to come up dancing with the ball held over his head. But seriously, I thought that he did a fabulous job. He was as active in the fourth quarter as he was in the first--talking to players, getting to the pile, separating players who had extracurricular activity in mind, etc. Very good preventive officiating. Actually, the whole crew did a very commendable job IMHO, even the LJ who resorted to almost dragging Stoops off the field to keep him from getting a flag!

Since you mention dancing. I thought it was ballet.

I thoroughly enjoyed the umpire's performance. Great enthusiasium for the game. I'll bet he has the same mechanics for High School Jr. varsity.
