R1 muffs a punt at his own 21 yard line. K1 muffs it at the 23, R2 muffs it at the 17, K3 muffs it at the 10, K4 muffs it at the 3. The ball rolls into the endzone where a) R recovers; b) K recovers. What's the call?

It doesn't matter who muffs it or who recovers it. The ball is dead as soon as it breaks the goal line and the ball is dead for a touch back.

I always remind myself that no matter who touches a grounded scrimmage kick or free kick once it enters the endzone its a touchback. Kind of an anti-climatic end to a wild play!
