Staying Dry in the Rain

Playoff games this weekend... looks like rain.

What's your best tip to keep your feet dry while allowing them to breathe?

Some guys use plastic bags, others swear by multiple pairs of socks (first layer being wool).

Experienced guys, what's your best remedy?

I think in rain your pretty much s.o.l. unless you use the plastic bag. But, having used the plastic bag idea myself, my feet sweated so bad that I might as well just gone without. The same might be for multi-layered socks. I think I would go with the multi-socks if you were in in snow. I'm not much help, has anyone out there discovered any good secrets to this? I'd like to hear them too....

I would bring two pairs of socks to the game site. Change your socks at half-time. Its also good to bring a few hand towels that you can dry your feet with.

For quagmire games I wear my older pair of shoes that I can just hose-off at home after the game.

I think Honig's sells weather-proof socks, knickers and shirts but here in Hawaii our fields drain pretty well and I just change socks at half-time.

I like both responses to this topic, but I just say rain is a part of football, so let keep on playin, since the kids are still playin, we might as well keep on officiating.

Check with a local retailer like REI or campmor.com

There are a whole bunch of goretex or neopreme socks out there that breathe out but dont let water in...

Unfortunately the powers that be haven't seen fit to give me a play off game. We had one guy on the crew that was one rating short of qualifying for the post season. One of the teams we worked didn't turn in any ratings last year. We put in to have a 5th official assigned to us but we were passed over.
