This past fall was my first as a h.s. football official. I had a great time and look forward to many more to come.

I'd like to continue fine-tuning my knowledge of the rules in the offseason. I've been going through the NFHS rulebook & case book.

I was wondering if anyone had a copy of the 2003 Edition of the Referee Study Guide for Federation. Honig's is sold out, and I haven't been able to come across a copy anywhere else online.

What are some other good study aids for Fed rules, beyond just the rule & case books?

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you let me check later, I may have an extra copy...
Yes extra as the guy who originally wanted it back out on me.

I ordered one last week from doublesdistributors.com. They still had a few left as of Friday.

Theisey, thanks I may take you up on that if this doublesdistributors thing doesn't work out.

lwhicks3, went to the site you suggested, and it looked a bit shady. Tried to submit an order, but never got a confirmation email, and tried to dial their number and it's a fax line. How was your experience with the site compared to mine?

Thanks.

I e-mailed Steve directly at the address listed under "Contact Us". He responded within 5 minutes. I then placed the order with him on Saturday, and got the package Priority mail today. Overall I'd have to say I am extremely impressed!!

Read the rules-related articles in the football section of Officiating.com. You will see the various authors look at rules from different perspectives. On several occasions, I've had trouble really understanding a rule and an article really helped. Ed Hickland's articles over the past few years have been especially helpful to me.

I like to use the following technique in reading the case book: Take an index card and cover up the "ruling" as you read a case situation. Come up with your "ruling" before you reveal the one in the book. If you get it right, move on to the next. If you don't, make note of it. I do this through the entire case book, then go back and get the rule book to further study all the ones I didn't get right. I find that this technique really identifies the rules you still need to work on.

Good luck!

You have to pay for Officiating.com account.

Is it worth the money? :/

Smile

An annual membership is $39.95. An excellent investment in your officiating training in my opinion.

new rules

Does anyone know when the new rule changes for football come, or if they already have, where can I find it? Or if they have any insight to what they think will be changed?
