Offense line

Do you need 7 offense linemen to run a legal play in HS football?
5 need to have numbers between 50-79 and 2 more?
Does this pertain to teams that have only 10 players on the field?
Where in Fed HS book is information.

The current rule says no more than 4 in the backfield. That means that a formation with 5 linemen and 2 backs is legal.

Had a game years ago with 2 small christian schools JH teams. The visitors only had 10 players, the 11th was coming later but never got there. The home coach told me that they would play with 10 players also. I was the R, so I got both coaches together and said since both teams were playing short we (3 man crew) would not enforce 7 on the line. If they wanted 7 on the line and 3 in the backfield OK, if the wanted 6 on the line and 4 in the backfield OK. Yes I know this was against NFHS and OHSAA (Ohio) regulations but I was OK with it. Game went along smoothly...
