Electronic whistles

I have a few questions regarding the use of electronic whistles. First off I have the Fox 40 model with 3 tones. It looks somewhat bulky and it comes with a wrist loop lanyard. I thought about attaching it to my belt but it will just swing around while I'm running. Then I thought about holding it in my hand but the danger here is tendency to "blow" an inadvertent whistle. I was watching a few college games over the weekend and it appears that those officials that are using these whistles have it on their belt in what looks like some type of carrying case. If anyone out there is using these, I'd like to hear your experiences, good or bad. Thank you.

When I saw it required a 9v battery, my thoughts of hooking one to a lanyard went out the window.

This doesn't really say how they attached it to their belt.

Just saw the sideline reporter for the BYU vs Navy game on ESPN do a bit with the whistle- apparently the NCAA officials were carrying it in some sort of pouch but it was restricting the volume so she said that some were going to be carrying in their hand.
