My son's in JV and, after they finish playing, he has the responsibility to keep score during the Varsity game. We haven't found a form to do this with. We've had to jot everything down on blank paper. There are playbooks for every other sport, why not Football?

No, there isn't, at least not published by the NFHS. And they do publish scorebooks for all sports that require one. But it's important in other sports because of lineups, scoring, rotations subsitutions, etc. That type of information isn't required in football. There are statisticians manuals for football but really no need for a scorebook.

Why not create your own score sheet from MS Word (or other program)?

You could have columns for type of score, period, time scored, etc. and you could put this in a binder.

Most game cards come with a section for keeping score. But the only statistics kept are quarter, time in the quarter and points scored. Usually statisticians keep the detailed game information.

You could just buy a referees reusable scorecard. Unless you need to keep the records permanently then I suggest making something in Word.

Keep score, or keep statistics?

Did he ask the coach or athletic director if the school had a form? The schools in my area do.
