Our local youth football league plays by HFHS rules.On a double foul,don't the fouls offset and the down replayed.The ref in our game saturday called a facemask on a defensive player and a hold on an offensive player (the holder also was the person being facemasked,not that it matters).The ref said the penalties offset and the result of the play (TD)counted.I saw in the rule book about the down being replayed but I also saw something that said ,On double fouls,distanced gained is not penalized.What exactly does this mean?

on double fouls, the penalties offset and the down is replayed, that being said, if you have a 5 yard facemask and a 15 yd clip, the distance portions of the penalties are not considered you just replay the down....the touchdown should not have counted...

Dead ball fouls do not offset.

A dead ball foul cannot be combined with a live ball foul to create a double foul.
