Safety or Touchback
Defensive back intercepts pass in his own end zone and starts a return. A teammate cautions him not to but he continues to run around anyway and he reverses his field and runs toward the other sideline in the back of the end zone; he is pursued by an opponent (originally an offensive receiver) this player makes a tackle and the ball carrier goes down in his end zone ...Is this a safety or a touch back since he did not advance the ball out of the end zone... the entire play takes 5 to 6 seconds to complete

It's a touchback. The offense was responsible for putting the ball in the end zone.
Had the defense intercepted outside the B-5 & continued into the end zone, it would be a safety if the ball became dead there. |

And even if it was intercepted inside the B-5 you could have a safety if you don't rule that his original momentum took him across the goal line.
