This may be the first year in a long time that I skip buying the Redding's Guide. This won't be worth dropping $25 on.

Was this clipping such a problem that the rule had to be changed to eliminate it? I honestly cannot think of a single game this last year where I saw clipping in the FBZ.

I haven't bothered in several years. It was a good guide when I was getting started but just haven't seen the need since then. Did you see enough value in buying it every year for the rule changes?

rocky, I may have seen it once last year but it is not something you see very often.

Actually most of the time I did. Mostly is because Reddings is usually available a couple of months before we get our NFHS packet from Chapel Hill. George D's insight into rule changes prepared me for our group's discussions when we started having meetings in July. When the Fed comes out with one of those changes that has faulty or convoluted language, I think he does a good job of getting to the bottom of what was meant where the Fed can't or doesn't.

I contacted Double S several years ago and asked if they would consider a digital format but their reply indicated they weren't planning on it.

Over the years, I've found the format, The Reddings Guide uses, of combining a rule, and immediately following it with Case Book type scenarios and specific examples is a much more effective way of presenting a more thorough explanation, not only of the letter of the rule, but it's meaning and intention.

You guys know Redding doesn't publish that anymore, right? I mean, it is available, just that he has little to nothing to do with it.

I really hate how some NCAA guys actually think the guide's discussion is like an approved ruling.

I've also heard of a new mechanics change. The HL and LJ will switch at halftime.

Correct, George Demetriou writes it now. I think with the amount of material and easy access to Rogers, that the Redding guide isn't necessary for NCAA anymore. It still has some value for NFHS but as I've said, I haven't seen the need for it for a while now.
