Under Armour

This year, I've noticed conference-wide Under Armour officiating gear for Big-10 (while other crews appear to have a mish-mash of Honig's and even Smitty). The new sublimated shirts appear to be of good quality and equivalent to the "elite" and Honig's top of the line. Were these conference issued or are they available to the rest of us? And what's with all the white on the UA shoes?

Most conferences supply the shoes, or more correctly, the manufacturer supplies the shoes to the conference.

I got a pair of Adidas Turf Hogs once in tnis manner. I wore them once.

I was just a smaller school college guy and was told to only wear them if they were comfortable. They were not. Can't image D1 officials getting that flexibility....

Under Armor took over the official's equipment for the NCAA in football. It used to be Adidas now it is UA.

Peace

Apparently UA only took over equipment sponsorship at the D-I level... it certainly hasn't at the D-III level.

Some of my compadre's who work this area's D2 conference get Turf Hogs.

One of my WH's used to work the SEC. They gave each official a pair of adidas turf shoes and a pair of regular FB cleats for grass. He gave me the cleats because the grass fields are so nice there that they never needed anything else. I still use them for two of our "pastures" in the north.

I knew that had taken place and never more evident than when watching the UW/Purdue game this weekend. My goodness, looked like a visible UA logo in about half a dozen places on each official.

Beats the Nike clown shoes that the ACC had to wear a few seasons back.

This has nothing to do with the OP but it was brought up in a couple of posts:

*Love my Turf Hogs and don't want to wear anything else even if I do catch a ration of crap from some of my fellow officials for them being white accented.

*The new Honig's "elite" "ultra" or whatever they are called these days shirts are awful. The quality is awful, they're already starting to fade and many of my fellow officials are getting some horrible runs in the fabric. I've had plenty of performance fabric items before and these are by far the cheapest made I've seen. I'm going back to Smitty next season and kissing the Honigs stuff goodbye for good.

Exactly. And it looks like still a mix-and-match at D1 as well.

uhoh. That's not good news. I was wondering how quality would hold up with all the sublimination going on now. And that's across the board. As for the Nike haters. Add me to that list. They were uncomfortable as hell. But I am hearing the UAs aren't holding up now either. Wish some of these companies would stick to what they do best rather than than producing complete lines of wear.
