Ok the Texas legislature needs to get together and revise the assault on a sports official law ASAP.Does the UIL require student athletes to take the NFHS sportsmanship course? If not that would be a good start.

I don't think a law, or any proposed change to the law, would've made one bit of difference on the field in either of these games.

The John Jay incident was clearly a premeditated act on the part of the two players involved (and, it sounds like, at least one ass. coach; and yes, I intentionally abbreviated it that way).

This incident seems like more of a 'heat of the moment' type thing.

I don't know if the "Law" itself needs revision, as much as the possible enforcement. Leading these (out of personal control THUGS) off the playing field in handcuffs might lessen the temperature of "moments" they need to learn to handle better.
