It's always our fault, "control the game", "let'um play"

Ok the Texas legislature needs to get together and revise the assault on a sports official law ASAP.Does the UIL require student athletes to take the NFHS sportsmanship course? If not that would be a good start.

I don't think a law, or any proposed change to the law, would've made one bit of difference on the field in either of these games.
The John Jay incident was clearly a premeditated act on the part of the two players involved (and, it sounds like, at least one ass. coach; and yes, I intentionally abbreviated it that way). This incident seems like more of a 'heat of the moment' type thing. |
I still want to know why he thinks the law needs to be changed... what needs to be changed about it.

I believe it is because the "Law" as currently written only addresses assaults on an official by a person not involved in the sport, meaning it does not cover assault by a player/coach on an official.

The law is fine. And it supports us. |

We wouldn't have played another snap in my game until those players were led off in front of God and everbody. |

Lets talk rules, should that crew immediately suspend that came and offending team forfeits?
I would think so! ART. 6 . . . The referee has authority to rule promptly, and in the spirit of good sportsmanship, on any situation not specifically covered in the rules. The ref - eree’s decisions are final in all matters pertaining to the game. ART. 10 . . . The referee’s decision to forfeit a game is final. Also NFHS should edit the casebook to include this type of situation and say the officials can declare a forfeit for any physical attack on an official. |

I am aware that texas uses NCAA rules, just saying that other states should make sure this is handled.
