Punt past neutral zone...

4th and 25 and punt is kicked 15 yards past the neutral zone. If the receiving team has the ball bounce off of a player and the kicking team recovers, but they are still short of the line to gain, does kicking team retain possession? Or is it the receiving team's ball 1st and 10 from the dead ball spot? I think it's going to be the kicking team's ball 1st and 10, but can't find a rule to justify, please advise you anyone can. Thanks

Unless, of course, the R player was blocked into the ball K muffed the ball and caused it to touch R ("forced touching is no touching")... 6-2-4.

NCAA: ball is dead at spot of punt. 5 yards from the previous spot and loss of down. Keep in mind (for NCAA) this is a live ball foul subject to offset if Team B also commits a live ball foul.

I think he meant the punt hit an R player 15 yards beyond, not that the ball was kicked 15 yards beyond...
