JRutledge Ed Hightower announces retirement Despite what you think, one of the legends is retiring after this coming season. Peace
Steven Tyler Nevadaref wroteSome think that this is a few years too late. Take Joey Crawford with him........Mendy Rudolph rocks!!!!
Multiple Sports Steven Tyler wroteTake Joey Crawford with him........Mendy Rudolph rocks!!!! I'll take a crew of Crawford / Foster / Mauer for every game of the finals......and I'm a Spurs fan.....all three of those guys have stones!!!!!!

rockyroad Bad Zebra wroteI'm in that camp. I am too...but how many of us would know it was time to step down before it was a few years too late?
Multiple Sports Remember going to Fred Barakat's camps in the early 90's......everybody wanted to work the 8:20pm game on Ct. 2 at Robert Morris in front of Lenny......best clinician I've ever met !!!!!!
JRutledge Hightower is from a different era where guys were much more emphatic, expressive or dynamic. Those days of that being acceptable has clearly changed. You cannot even in some have your mechanics "pop" and people judge that as "selling" a call. I think everyone has gotten too robotic and rehearsed or that is what is expected when it only causes confusion. Not that I loved everything about Hightower, but you never thought he was not confident in what he called. Peace
Rich As someone who sees him in Madison a few times a year, I'll miss him. I'm not a fan of officials who have no flair, style, personality, etc.

Tio Indeed, Ed is a legend of officiating. I wonder what conference he will be the coordinator of? That seems to be par for the course... Shaw a couple years ago and recently Kitts and Cahill.
Jay R Steven Tyler wroteIf Crawford works the finals, he might get his opportunity to take Tim Duncan out behind the woodshed. There is no if. Crawford always works the finals. Well maybe once he didn't.
Raymond Jay R wroteThere is no if. Crawford always works the finals. Well maybe once he didn't. Yeah, the season he got suspended for T'ing up Duncan.
Multiple Sports In the last seven years look who we have lost.... Burr / Higgins / Greenwood / Hightower / Donato / ...... I sure there are more, but as these "heavy hitters" go will they be replaced by people similar in style or will we see more of an "NBA" official develop.....
