Yeah, the nearest comparison I can think of in DM would be summer league AAU, or maybe the annual middle school tournament down in Indianola.

Or the Dowling League....😃

LOL, yeah, I'd forgotten about that league.
Clock in the corner, team benches underneath the baskets.
Only time I really had a mother get mad at me about earrings.

DesMoines

I'm working the Indianola tourney later this month. I was told there are nearly 150 teams and another 35 on the waiting list. 6 sites and 12 kinds of crazy. 🙂

Here in Connecticut, CYO means Catholic Youth Organization, and these are games played by kids who attend public schools, and they play for their parish church team.

Not to be confused with Catholic school games, which are games played by kids who attend a Catholic school, and play for that Catholic school team.

Neither of which is the standard in Des Moines, where the Catholic schools are part of the IHSAA and compete against public schools and other private schools based on enrollment numbers.

I'm still trying to get the lay of the land in this regard here in CO, where private schools seem to operate in their own little world.

Same here in the Provisions State.

Okay, I know there are some areas where the Catholic schools have their own leagues.

The public high school coaches here in Connecticut would absolutely love that. Catholic high schools draw kids from many surrounding towns, while public high schools just draw kids from their own town, or worse, from just their own part of town.
