You are 100% correct. We all know. All of us. Every single one of us. So I'm 100% certain that it's not necessary for you to remind us.

Decent article. I am not sure what all of that has to do with being a role-model. That sounds like it has more to do with being a good official. I always think parents and coaches play a bigger role for kids as they do not look to us for guidance in most things. We are authority figures they hardly know.

I would wish they did not show a travel that was not a travel by a bobble. I was not able to see the video the first time as I was reading this on my phone.

The only play I questioned was the travel call. I would of judged the action a fumble.

Did anyone watch the other videos than the one that is at the start of the page?

The reason I asked I am watching this about commending players, communicating with coaches. These are many things I would not do or not stop play to do. I have no problem with the comments of the girls on the floor and they called a jump ball, but not telling the player about a good throw-in. That to me goes a little far. I really did not like how the official stopped what he was doing to talk to a coach which appears to be about another official's call.

Blue shoots and misses. White rebounds. Official stops the game to warn a blue player about the lane.

I don't find this acceptable at any level.

Then in another clip the official calls a double dribble and stops what he is doing to explain it to him. What???? I am not doing that either. Not on minor violations like that I am not.

I suffered thru all the instructional videos and nearly lost my lunch where a partner came to offer help on the OOB. Original call, BLUE!. Partner inserts himself and says, "Tipped off white, tipped off white"
partner says "White"

It looks like to me that the video is scripted and that the players are not actually playing a game. They are setting up plays for the officials to call for the video.
On the 1st play where the official calls a block, he has no partner in trail. So he is either reffing solo or these are set up scripted plays. The contact on the play was extremely marginal and the offensive player looks like she misses on purpose.
#Edit# Okay never mind I just saw the video for "Working by yourself" and the above clip came from it. So he WAS working by himself and that contact WAS marginal 🙂 #Edit#

Most of these "training" videos are 😮! The production and quality are good but the content is wrong in a number of ways. 🙁

I think a group of people got together to do a video and probably did not have someone review the material from an educated point of view. So just like regular movies you have inconsistencies in actual real interactions. Nice try but as you can tell many of us found things we would never do or say. Like stop play just to warn a player for 3 second. I do not call that violation let alone stop play to warn someone. After all that is a real game interruptor. 🙂
