Tech Free-throws

Okay, I'm looking for the Rule reference that states all players except the shooter are to stand behind the division line. But all I find is that they only have to be behind the 3 point arc and free-throw line extended.

Help Please!!! Just the rule reference will do!!!

Thank you

As others have stated, you won't find a rule reference because that's not the rule. It's just another HS basketball myth, like you can't catch your own missed shot, you get to inbound at midcourt following a timeout late in the fourth quarter, the three second count continues during a shot, you can't always inbound into the backcourt and coaches have the right to question you about a call. 😉

Could this be like the WWE, when they start blasting the music and the announcer goes, "Oh my GOD!! It's BillyMac!! I can't believe it!!"

What would BillyMac's theme music be?

I was thinking more along the lines of "Shaft".

Linus and Lucy. At least that's what comes to mind every time he posts a "Good grief!" about Padgett's aversion to overtime. 😀

Me too. We just went there. Don't remember why. Seemed like the right thing to do. Gave us a chance to tighten the laces on our Chuck Taylor Converse All Stars, and tighten up the belt buckle on our very short, shorts.

"Yes, that line forms on the right, babe
Now that Macky’s back in town …
Look out … old Macky is back!!"

It certainly is a myth, but, I'm not sure this is a job for the Mythbusters? I don't find too many parents yelling from the stands, "Make them stand at the division line". I do have many parents yelling, "Three seconds", when multiple rebounds, and shots, are being taken in several seconds, with ten kids in the lane. If you guys want me to add it, I can, but I don't think it's necessary.

The "Theme From Shaft" is one of my alltime favorite songs. I am old enough to have seen Isaac Hayes perform the song on television at the 1972 Academy Awards, for which he won Best Original Song. Best performance at an Academy Awards, ever.

Don't forget, "Sigh".
