Mark Dexter I think my most in a single day has been five games, which has happened a few times (all have been either intramurals or AAU/rec ball). The worst was when I had spent the early afternoon doing scorebook for two back-to-back college league tourney games, then spent the evening reffing five IM games. Physically, I was fine. Mentally, I was so out of shape that there were times I had no idea what I was calling. Never will I do that again.
CLH I worked 14 Varsity boys games in a day. Called at least one technical in every game, and threw out 2 coaches and 4 players. Goodtimes, but never again. CLH

JRutledge I think the most I have ever worked was 9. I did this about 10+ years ago when I did not know any better. I learned quickly not to do that again. Peace
CLH first game started at 9, modified clock, dont remebmer exactly how it was, but games generally ran on the hour, makes the last one start at 9 right? didnt get outta there till midnight

If the games ran on the hour, they were probably about 2/3 the time of a regular game. That means your 14 games were the equivalent of about 9 1/3 regular games. Not a full 14, but still a lot. I hope you had meal breaks and bio breaks.
CLH hey tell my bleeding ankles that!!!! had a new pair of shoes that rubbed a blister and soaked my socks
JRutledge CLH wrotehey tell my bleeding ankles that!!!! had a new pair of shoes that rubbed a blister and soaked my socks When someone says you need to "break in" a new pair of shoes, you seemed to take that literally. 😀 Peace
Vinski 10 games for adult rec league tourney. 20 min/halves - running clock. This was during my first year and only my second time at 3-man. Talk about baptism by fire.

TimTaylor Most I ever did was 9 in one day. Opening weekend of CYO season, all 8th & 9th grade "A" level teams on the main court at VCHS. Best part was the new assigner for CYO forgot to assign me a partner, so I worked them all solo. It was the worst of a number of assigning errors that season, and that was the last season I worked for CYO......

BTW - is "VCHS" Valley Catholic? No particular reason for asking, just curious.
stmaryrams Our local association had an officials clinic to coincide with a Varsity Boys camp at a local university. Unfortunately several of the officials did not show up and we ended up doing 9 games with running 20 min halves. Clock only stopped in the last minute of each half. BTW we actually paid for this privilage. We eventually were given credit for our dues paid for the year. But we were never given any instruction or evaluation as the staff had to work also.
blindzebra Boys club ball tournament: Friday 5 games, a split of 12U/14U. Saturday 12 games, a split of 14U/17U. Sunday 8 games, a split of all 3 ages, with all three championship games.

It's nice to walk out with a pocket full of money but I don't think I was any good after the Saturday morning games. There comes a point when your brain is fried.
Mark Padgett ChrisSportsFan wrote There comes a point when your brain is fried. I know. That happened to me in the 60s. Can't you tell?
