Pantherdreams jeremy341a wroteBefore the game during warm ups s visiting member jumps up and hangs on the rim. The uncommon part of this was the rim he was hanging on was a non retractable side goal that hangs about a foot over the floor. Is this a T? I ruled it is not a T bc he did not grasp one of the playing goals? I wouldn't T him for hanging on a pull up bar or the top of the doorway. I did go tell him to don't do that again. Kudos to a guy that small or having the game to play at only 5 inches tall. ANd the guts to play without fear of being stepped on. If the only goal he can grab is 1 foot over the floor, I would let it slide too.
BigT Why did they add this rule? Was it to intimate the other team and thats why its an unsportsmanlike? Is it cuz if the rim breaks there goes the game? I dont know.. Where is some old fart to help with these questions!

ref3808 Most high schools don't have the ability to swap out a hoop and a backboard. Breaking one is a major headache. I always assumed that was part of the thinking along with player safety and perhaps not wanting dunking to be used to intimidate another team.
constable Prohibiting hanging on the rim makes sense. Banning dunking in the warmup has always been perplexing. You can dunk without damaging the rim Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
