BI Mechanics (GSW/Pelicans Game 3) (Video)

This is from a couple weeks ago but I still haven't seen the play. Golden State/New Orleans, Game 3, 2:23 of 4th quarter.

BI called by the Lead. From what I hear the call was correct, but there was a lot of debate as to why the Lead made the call.

I believe APG has already has the play queued up.

Thanks.

It appears correct, but I do not like who called it.

Peace

Play on.

Given that lead has strong side rebound and is watching the rebounding there, it's a pretty good call from lead. Given the reaction from the other two officials, he probably had the best angle and got it right.

Because all three officials at the NBA level are Rs!

The ball may have an inch inside the cylinder. There is no way that this was an obvious violation or that the Lead could have been sure from his angle.

I believe that this is splitting hairs.

I think so too. Ball was not on the ring when contacted and I thought it was more out than in. Not an obvious violation or Trail or Slot would have called it. certainly not Lead's call.

It was definitely more than an inch inside....the overhead view confirms it if you take into account the location of the camera....probably 2+ inches.

Apparently it was obvious enough for the official, as lead, to go get it. It is the rule....and he was right.

OK, finally saw it. An obvious basket interference. If you don't like the Lead making the call, that's one thing. But this nonsense about "it's only 1 inch inside the cylinder", WTF is that? It either was or wasn't.

The Lead held his whistle and gave his partners a chance to make the call, so I most definitely have no problem with it.
