A significant point of understanding to impress upon any having a hard time understanding a key principle of the traveling rule. An easy-to-understand easy to accept statement, for most.

We've named this the "Flamingo" or "Stork" play. Giving it an illustrative name has helped more officials identify it and give it a no-call when they see it. Might not be real often, but often enough that it used to get called a violation merely because it "looked bad" (and, of course, had the coach and fans yelling "Traveling!!! He lifted his pivot foot!!!").

The would be legal in all rule sets. The pro rules do allow more foot movement than HS or college in some cases but this is the same.
The only exception being "street ball" and "pick up" where nobody has actually read a rule book.

If this were to happen in a HS game, the officials would recognize it as legal and half of the fans would be going crazy wondering how the ref missed the call...
