I gotta go to a game tomorrow night.
I got polyester pants.
I got a polyester shirt.

I read here that the uniform should be ironed.
I wash those drip/dry shiney things and put'em on a hanger.
I fold 'em up and put 'em in a bag. (<i>Longer trips I hang 'em.</i>)

The crease in the pants is nearly forever. ...And they're black! I got vertical stripes all over my shirt.

My only concern is for my cotton jacket and my nylon jacket, both of which wrinkle when you look at 'em.

Do any of you folks actually iron polyester?

<hr>
Found my Fox;
Found my shoes;
Found a sock,
and the other one, too.

Iron? Do you mean like pump iron? :eek:

Mark Padgett Mon Sep 08, 2003 09:39pm

I wear only poly/cotton shirts and pants. No, I don't iron them.

Hmmmmm. Wasn't Polly Cotton a stripper?

I had some off-brand poly slacks that I wore for a couple of years, that needed the crease "affirmed" every so often. I haven't ironed my jacket yet, but I ALWAYS hang it if I'm not wearing it. Sure don't iron socks!!

Don't iron. I wash them in cold water and hang up to dry with no problems. I will periodically have my jacket dry cleaned -- only wear it for pre-game. Don't use it at all for rec ball.

No ironing...yuck! I take my pants in to be dry cleaned at start of season and before any play-off/tournament games - just to keep that nice sharp crease...rest of the time it's wash in cold, tumble for a few minutes and then hang em to dry the rest of the way...

Hmmm...to be honest I don't know what happens between the time I throw my stuff in the hamper & it all arrives nicely hung up or folded away as required - and since I kinda like this arrangement I aint about to ask! :p

BTW, those damn jackets do wrinkle too easily. Maybe they should let us wear hoodies before the games.

Looks kinda sharp, yeah!! I'd like to see "PBOA" in that classy tagger lettering!! I bet they'd even let me practice at the park-ball games across the street, if I could just wear that cool hoodie. Gray shirts, gang hoodies, next thing you know we'll be wearing white shoes with little red springs in the soles!!

Personally, I'm waiting for ref shoes just like the shoes Walt "Clyde" Frasier of the Knicks used to wear at discos. They were platform boots with hollow, transparent acrylic heels. He would have live goldfish swimming inside the heels.

Those would be cool.

I'm not sure "cool" is the word my podiatrist would use!

I also don't iron. Period.
I do know a few who send the polyester to the dry cleaners, though. To me, that's a bit crazy. Poly looks the same no matter how it's cleaned (well, almost)

I will iron if I forget to take my uniform out of the dryer immediately. I try not to forget about them, because I hate ironing with a passion

I'd throw that Uni in for another few spins maybe with a sprinkle of water for a chaser.

You can also try:
  • spray the shirt with water from a spray bottle and let it hang to dry
  • throw it in the dryer with a wet towel for a few minutes
  • hang it up in the bathroom during a really hot shower with the door closed
They have all worked for me.
