Why not?

Seriously, you think that would be egregious enough to get a game pulled? I couldn't comprehend such.

I think that if John Adams wanted to pull a game for any reason at all he could do so. Your response indicated that the Round of 32 games were entirely predetermined and Adams couldn't make a change even if he wanted to.

No, my response was to the fact that your post implied Olgesby would or wouldn't have received today's game based on what happened Friday.

John Adams can do what he wants. But why would a reasonable man in his positions make such irrational and arbitrary decision based on that technical foul, even if he didn't like the call?

What basis do you have to think John Adams would pull an NCAA tournament game over that call?

His brother has passed away since this article was written, I believe.
His brother passed the day after the article was posted.

Let's talk about Gene Steretore. The guy is a Big Ten fixture. Every other major conference game, he's assigned. I follow WI. Wisconsin/Duke? Check. Wisconsin/Ohio State? Check. Wisconsin/Michigan St.? 2 x Check (including the Big Ten title game). I didn't go back to last year, but I know that he got most of the big assignments unless they happened to fall on Saturdays and Sundays during football season.

And this is why I am surprised that his NCAA footprint is so meager. Last year he got a first four game. This year he got a round of 64 game: Virginia/Belmont (no offense, but whoop 'de do). And that's it. Didn't even get assigned past Friday.

The guy has impeccable mechanics and he's a game management wizard.

So why John Adams no seem to respect him very much?

He could still work next weekend. Not all regional officials work 2 games on the first weekend.

He's not the greatest play caller but coaches love him which is why he will continue to get games, but not necessarily advance far in the tournament.

Supervisors love him. I rode in an elevator one time with him and a few upper East Coast supervisors.

There's a lot of good stuff to pick up from Gene. Confidence, mannerisms, the like.
