OK - this is just for humor's sake
 

At the assisted living center where I now reside, one of the other inmates, er, I mean residents, told me he used to coach his son when his kid was in a grammar school age rec league. He said he used to hear a lot of funny things during games but his favorite was when a foul was called on a 4th grade boy. The boy turned around towards the ref and said in a rather loud voice, "YOU'RE A POO-POO HEAD!" The ref laughed so much he didn't take any further action. :D

I'd really have to think long and hard to come up with the single funniest comment I ever heard during a game. What about you guys (and gals)? :)

This was more of a comment begotten by one of my own, however, I still found it very funny.

Ball went off black team on far baseline in first half. As we move back into white's frontcourt, black team coach is questioning that the ball as tipped and wanted to know "how could the ball have flew like that if white didn't tip it?" My reply was, "I don't know coach, Science?" This was the week of the superbowl with the Patriots Deflatgate fiasco. Coach says to me...."Great, we have a regular Bill Belicheck working our game."

New to this forum. I've lurked for months but do find myself stalking daily so thought I would join up. Do basketball at about any level that will have me and work fastpitch softball up to the college level. I love the avocation of officiating and the money is pretty good as well :):)

I had a BJV game in which the shorts kept drooping on one of the players. There was a timeout called and as he walked toward the bench, his coach yelled at him, "COLLINS, PULL YOUR SHORTS UP. YOU'RE NOT IMPRESSING ANYONE AND YOUR GIRLFRIEND'S NOT HERE." :eek:

"Coach, I need a quick sub!"

"I don't have any quick subs. You're all slow!"

I remembered one from quite a few years ago. I was working a HS boys rec game in my local rec league. Most of the boys in the league attend the same HS. During one game, A1 was at the line to shoot a 1 and 1. As they lined up along the lane, I heard B1 say to him, "Make this shot and I'm not helping you study for the math test on Monday." A1 just stood there and stared at him while holding the ball. His coach was yelling at him to shoot and finally he did by hurling it at the backboard. It hit the board, went off the bracket and then OOB to team B.

At that point, Coach A took A1 out and started yelling at Coach B to do the same to B1. Coach B, who I found out later was B1's dad, just laughed at Coach A and said, "THAT'S MY BOY"! :p
