6OT? Yikes
Man where was Padgett for this one   ;) ?
Courtesy of MaxPreps.com Northport (N.Y.) survived a six-overtime affair against Huntington (N.Y.) on Saturday, coming away with a 96-89 victory. It elicited memories of Syracuse's six-overtime victory against UConn in the 2009 Big East finals. Coincidentally, according to Newsday, Northport head coach Andrew D'Eloia was at Madison Square Garden that day. Lukas Jarrett led the way with 41 points. The win helped Northport advance in the Suffolk Class AA playoffs, where it will take on top seed Brentwood on Wednesday. The game was the longest playoff basketball game in Long Island history, Newsday reported. |
As a freshmen in H.S. I played in a freshmen game that went four overtimes. And no, we did not have a jump ball after every made field goal, :D.
The most OTs in a H.S. game that I have ever officiated is two. I distinctly remember two of them were boys' VAR games and the Home team missed a lay up at the buzzer that would have sent the game to a third OT in both games. This year, Mark, Jr., and I had a girls' JV game where the Visitor's scored a layup at the buzzer to win the game in two OTs. I cannot remember ever having a college game go into OT , but then again I was in the Softball Forum last night and kept quoting the NFHS Baseball Rules Book while thinking that I was quoting the Softball Rules Book,!
