Do NOT give in to the temptation of posting the final scene from Caddyshack.

Did you notice that one of the players on the black uniformed team had blue numbers on his jersey? That was weird.

Seriously ...

Seriously.

How long do the officials wait for it to drop off the flange, or to drop into the basket, before walking off the court?

The lead clearly calls for an AP throw-in just as the buzzer sounds. So it's already a dead ball.

Exactly as long as they'd wait if it happened with 3:45 gone in the second period.

Or, exactly as long as they did wait in the video (+ /1 .475 seconds).

iow, sometimes you just need to officiate.

You tell us. Pretend that was your game you can't consult us or the rule book. You have to make a decision on your own.

When the ball comes to rest, i.e. the ball stops moving.

Now, let's go to the videotape.

6-4-3-D: Alternating-possession throw-ins shall be from the out-of-bounds
spot nearest to where the ball was located. An alternating-possession throw-in
shall result when: A live ball lodges between the backboard and ring or comes to rest on the
flange, unless a free throw or throw-in follows.

6-7-3: The ball becomes dead, or remains dead, when: A held ball occurs, or the ball lodges between the backboard and ring or comes to rest on the flange.
