High School - 94 or 84?
I'm curious to know if any of you see many 94 foot long floors at the high school level?
Most of ours are 84 as recommended by the book, but we have one school with a 94 foot floor, and our state tournaments are in facilities with 94 foot floors as well. |
We have a couple that play on 94' floors, and like you our state tournaments are all played on 94' floors as well.

I would guess that my games this year could be close to half and half. It depends on how big the school is and how new the gym is, but we have a lot of 94 footers. Since our state tournaments are largely played on college courts, or places that can host college games, they are 94.

I wish they were all 94. Spreads things out a bit and almost guarantees we're going to get in a good run.

Hm...that's a good question. I don't actually know. Is there an easy way to tell?

Or, for me, when I take the "usual" number of steps from C to C and I'm not in the right position. |

I hate short courts. I like to get a workout in when officiating.
|
I cannot think of many HS courts that are the 94 feet. Then again I do not pay that much attention honestly.

I only know of one school in our area that has 94' courts. It's a big school with a relatively new building and both of their gyms are 94' courts. The state finals are on 94' college courts. The state playoffs are a mixed bag since they're at neutral sites. Some are at high schools and some are at colleges so you never know what you're going to get.

That is easy for you to say you young whippersnapper, LOL! MTD, Sr. |
I have found that when school districts build new schools, they tend to put in 94' courts. This allows them to utilized cross courts as well as have larger areas for other sports events if the court is divided cross ways for the events.

Also it seems to be cheaper to build one big gym than it is to build a small gym and a separate aux gym. |
