Another Block/Charge (Video)

Did they call a PC or a block???
|
Looks like they called a block. I've got a no-call.
|
PC, poor defender got posterized and then shafted.
|
Definitely don't know what he did to get a block call.
If you want to go no call i guess you could though if they get a dunk on contact that has my player end up back pedaling into the front row to protect himself I'ld be unhappy with that. PC or nothing seem like the only options I can see. |
Looks like it could be a block to me. Defender had LGP but it appeared the shooter was slipping around (behind) him and the defender continued to drift into his path.
The view form the endline would have been ideal. Hard to say for certain from the angle in the video. |
BooYEAH!!!
Ok, that was a sweet dunk. There was a block call. Maybe a no call would have been better but I think the block was ok. I enjoyed the reactions of the cheerleaders and the opposing bench. They are going to have a few cracks to that unfortunate defender. |
I do not see a foul. It looks like the defender bailed out and the contact was minimal and mostly feel down trying to avoid the blow. But if there was displacement, it would have been a charge.
Peace |
I've got a PC here. LGP and whatever movement there was looks like he's gettin his face out of the way of a knee.
|
What could the defender have done differently? PC or no-call. Definitely not a block here.

Would enjoy hearing from a college supervisor regarding this one. |

Charge or no call. Defender did nothing wrong
|
looks to me like his only movement is backwards. I don't see him moving into the path. I think the was an easy PC. The knee in the upper chest/head area seems like plenty of contact to me.

PC #easy

From my view the moment the shooter leaves the floor the defender couldn't be much more in his path to the rim than he already is. I understand your point though. |

Sometimes, one video angle can be entirely misleading. There was one play in the John Adams/NCAA block/charge video from a couple of years ago that really looked like a PC from the 1st two angles they showed and then, when showed a 3rd angle, it was clear that it was a block. To know for sure on many of these plays (not all), you have to have just the right angle. And, as luck would have it, the mechanics we use are set up to try to get us in the spot to give us the angles we need. |

If anything, the backpedaling takes the defender out drawing a charge, but to me, this is a PC or play on. Great dunk, but based on what I see, I'm shipping this one. |
It's inconceivable to me how this could be a block or a no call. The offensive player goes thru (making ample contact) the defender who has LGP. If this is a no-call, then there's no such thing as a charge.
|
I would need to see the play from an end line camera as Camron suggested.
