What determines where a ball is inbounded?

Welpe's diagram is upside down. In that orientation, how can we call it the Rocket Ship Diagram, and give credit to Back In The Saddle?

Welpe's diagram looks more like the Badminton Shuttlecock Diagram.

First, Welpe's image is upside-down.

Second, I thought this thread said "Who determines where a ball is inbounded?" as was all excited to share my story. Well I'll share it anyway. I was Trail, called a kick ball in the semi-circle above the FT line. C was looking there for some reason and called it too. I point that the ball is being taken out underneath because I am primary, but C grabs the ball and heads to the sideline. I have to hit my whistle and point again. I could tell C was pissed getting shown up but hey that's his fault for calling in my area.

I would be remiss if I failed to emphasize that the bold arrows pointing to the sideline are NOT the only places where a sideline throw in can originate. Much to the consternation of a very senior partner who insisted the picture should be taken oh so very literally!!

Usually at the location that requires the least amount of movement from my previous spot.

This is my two-person mantra.

I clipped mine right from the online NFHS manual. Take it up with them. 🙂

Could it possibly be that your monitor is upside down?

Scuba_ref

It is probably just the diagram of the other end of the court!

I tell ya...this drives me crazy when I see crews choosing incorrect throw-in spots to save a step or two.

When I coached this drove me crazy. I have carried this over to calling games. I put the ball in where it should be. I hate when it goes out in the corner and I see it getting put in near the lane extended.

One diagram is for the Front Court. The other is for the Back Court. 😀
