3 Person Evaluation Forms
Hello Everyone,
I run a collegiate intramural sports program, and we are starting our basketball season next week. I have student supervisors who are tasked with running the events and evaluating officials. I was wondering if any of you have a 3 person evaluation form that gives them ideas on what to look for and what to evaluate on. I appreciate any help I can get! Thanks! |
So what you're saying is, out in the rural high plains, you use 3-person crews for intermural games, but here along the metropolitan east coast as well as most parts of California, we still can't get more than two for most varsity games.
HS athletic directors are such cheapskates sometimes.... |
Do those student supervisors know anything about officiating? Have they ever done it?
If so, great. If not, that is fine too. However, the answer to that question would greatly change the usefulness of the things they could reasonably be expected to evaluate. If they are not officials, it would be pretty useless to have them evaluate positioning, mechanics, rules knowledge, etc. as they'd probably be wrong as often as they would be right. However, they could certainly comment on hustle, game control, communication, etc. |
Wheel Univented Again, Maybe
I have met and worked with major college intramural directors from the three largest universities in our state at various camps. Each of them I learned are responsible for the training of student officials for their IM programs. Any of them probably has exactly what you might be looking for. My suggestion is that you contact any large universities in your state and try to access from one or two of their IM directors the forms and methods you're seeking. They may consider you a peer in the industry and be happy to help. That might benefit you in your loyal efforts.
