Just being annoying...
You guys have anything when B1 while guarding a throw-in helps you count by screaming (and I mean screaming!) ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR?!!! By the way, is there anything louder than a middle schooler?
Seems unsporting/antagonistic. |
"Knock it off"
|
"Shouting out the I.Q.'s of your teammates isn't going to help." :D
|
This depends on the circumstances for me.
If I feel that the player is trying to distract the thrower or cause confusion to the offense, I've got nothing (same as yelling "ball, ball, ball" while on defense). This would be my default position -- I'm not looking to make this a big deal. However, if I think that this count is directed towards me as the official, then they are showing up the official and they will get a warning to knock it off, and if they did it again it would be a T. |

And if for some reason an explanation is required I consider it unsporting and trying to gain an advantage not intended by rule regardless of who its directed toward. |
The one time time I have seen this, they counted too fast as well as counting too loud, and got to five before I did.
When they started complaining about no violation after the throw in was completed successfully, it was an easy T. |
"Not again!"

We had a team around here a few years ago that started that up. We tried to end it and there was a whole big deal made by their coaches/AD and our association.Couple of times players and coach were t'd for being asked to stop and insisted they didn't have to.
Bottom line was when our association met with the AD about it decision was made that they were aloud to call out defenses or changes in defenses and are allowed to communicate to teammates. Coach/program suggested that they were pressing and responsibilities or press angles on inbounds changed with count. NOt that is matters but video did show this to be true. Bottom line was we were told we couldn't stop them from counting, but they were told there would be no leniency in regards to complaints from players, team and coaches or inciting crowd in regards to count. Any debate would be an immediate T. To their credit I don't think they got any T's after this understanding was reached. A couple of years later coaching change stopped the press and behavior anyway. |
I'll do my Padgett impression for this one:
"WOW - you can count all the way to four! Do you know the alphabet, too?" |
