Throw-in Pt. 2

I posted this in the "Throw-in" thread, but it wasn't exactly related to the topic at hand. I'll post it here for discussion:

I'm not sure if this is the same thing I'm thinking of, but I had a discussion with a partner earlier this year about the play where Team A makes a basket. Team B grabs the ball and makes the throw-in with one foot out of bounds and one foot inbounds and races up the court on a fast break. (Never actually makes a legal throw in and never gets all the way OOB) I seem to remember a case play about calling this a violation on Team B. My partner insisted that you would just kill the play and bring Team B back and make them throw it in legally. Does anyone know it off hand?
I skimmed the case book but didn't find it. Anyone have anything?

I believe there was an Interp that addressed it.

Thanks guys. I was looking at the rule covering throw-ins and not violations.

9.2.2 SITUATION C: A1 scores a basket. After the ball goes through the net, B1
grabs it and makes a move toward the end line as though preparing to make a
throw-in. However, B1 never legally steps out of bounds, both feet remain
inbounds. B1 immediately passes the ball up the court to a fast-breaking teammate,
who scores a basket. RULING: Cancel Team B's goal, throw-in violation on
B1. The ball was at B1's disposal after the made basket to make a throw-in. B1
must be out of bounds to make a legal throw-in. (7-4-3; 7-5-7)

Would it make any difference if one foot was out of bounds but the other foot still in bounds (and touching the floor)? Seems like that would be a violation as well. Just wondering why they worded the case book play they way they did, instead of simply saying that the thrower was not completely out of bounds.

Beause if he was partially out of bounds folks would wonder what would happen if he hadn't gone out at all . . . partially out is the more obvious violation . . .
